UPDATE: Coroner identifies woman found dead in local motel

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say they were called to a local motel late on May 15 in regards to  reports of suspicious activity. When officers arrived to Regency Inn on W. Coliseum Blvd, they were directed to the second floor.
Officers entered the room to conduct a well-being check on the occupants. The officers located an adult female, deceased inside the room. The Homicide Team and Crime Scene Units were summoned to assist in this death investigation.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses that are guests at the motel. Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene and collected evidence in the area. Around 3:15 a.m., Fort Wayne Police said they made an arrest in connection with the investigation. David Adrian Fabela, age 35, is currently in police custody. He is confined on preliminary charge of Felony Aggravated Battery.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

UPDATE: On Monday, May 21, the Allen County Coroner identified the victim as Michelle Lee Funk-Pike, Female White 47 years of age, from Las Vegas, Nevada.  The Cause of Death is Pending and the Manner of Death is Pending. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

David Fabela has now been charged with murder.
