Tunes & Trucks heads to the Boys and Girls Club

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne and the Fire Police City County Federal Credit Union have some fun Friday nights planned.

Tunes & Trucks will be a weekly celebration including food, a raffle, and live music at the club’s main facility at 2609 Fairfield Avenue beginning June 26 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
“We want to celebrate the strength of our neighborhoods, the beauty of our local talent and give back to the community that has been so good to us,” said Joe Jordan, President and CEO of their club.

Attendees will be required to wear masks and follow social distancing and other guidelines set by the CDC and local health officials. Temporary parking spots will be available for take away orders.

There will also be limited parking and seating available under a tent in front of the club.

“We are so excited to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne as we share the mission of serving the underserved and being a positive force in the community,” said Nancy Kline,

President and CEO of Fire Police City County Federal Credit Union. “The celebration, which also supports the Blue Bucket Brigade, is part of an ongoing commitment from the credit union to help build relationships with local law enforcement.” The Blue Bucket Brigade is a club program, in conjunction with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 14, connecting law enforcement with the community’s most vulnerable youth.

The event is open to the public with no admission charge. “This provides an opportunity for the club to give back to the community particularly neighborhoods who have suffered the most,” according to Jordan. A recent review by the Journal Gazette, identified neighborhoods in the south and east where the most severe effects of the pandemic have been felt.

Food trucks will be located in the club drive-through with the opportunity to take away food or enjoy a meal at a table under a tent with proper social distancing and music. A raffle will be held and tickets can be purchased at the event for five dollars for items including grills, televisions, coolers, and more.
