One critically wounded in Franklin Avenue stabbing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne man is fighting for his life following a stabbing just north of the city’s downtown. It happened about 2:15 Sunday morning.

Police say a number of suspects stabbed the man outside of a house on Franklin Avenue and then left him there. Officers say the man suffered a serious, life-threatening wound. There’s no word on a motive in the case.

FWPD officials released the following:

On October 31, 2021 the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Franklin Avenue in reference to a reported stabbing that had taken place in a nearby home. Officers were advised that the victim was stabbed outside of the residence and they were also advised that the possible suspects had fled on foot from the area. They were also given possible vehicle descriptions that were seen leaving the scene before their arrival. They were working to investigate all the information they were given to establish the validity

Upon Officers arrival they located an adult male suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with Non Life Threatening Injuries. Officers were advised a short time later that the Emergency Room Physician had downgraded the victim to now having Life Threatening Injuries.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians were called to the scene. Upon their arrival Detectives tried to speak with any witnesses as well as looking for any possible video surveillance from nearby homes. Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene for any possible evidence that may have been located.

Initial indications are that there was some type of an altercation that led to this stabbing and Detectives are working to determine what exactly took place.
