FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Verizon Wireless users throughout the midwest may have had trouble getting cell service Thursday. Downdetector.com’s outage map showed the majority of outages over Michigan and northern Indiana.
The intermittent outages have been going on for two days and Verizon is not yet sure when the outages will end. The network is seeing outages all over the country.
Bernie Beier, Director of the Office of Homeland Security in Allen County said a “significant number of Verizon Wireless customers are experiencing intermittent service and an unstable network at this time across the United States and in particular, the Great Lakes Region which includes Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. We are experiencing these unstable conditions in Allen County, IN as well.”
Beier said that it was primarily affecting the cellular 4G LTE Services Network with voice and texting services and Verizon engineers were aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.
He reminded that if need to call 911 for an emergency and your call is dropped or does not go through, “try again – several times if necessary or use a traditional “land-line” if one is available.”
