One arrested in E. State Blvd. Quick Stop shooting

UPDATE (September 4, 2020):

One of the suspects in Fort Wayne’s latest murder is behind bars. Officers arrested 38-year-old Darryl “Antone” Davis yesterday.

Fort Wayne Police say Davis is one of several men who got into a fight at the Quick Stop on the city’s east side on Wednesday.

That fight ended with a shooting. Stephon Holland was the victim, he died at the gas station. Investigators are not saying just what role Davis played in the crime.

Fort Wayne Police Department officials released the following:

“Fort Wayne Homicide and Vice Narcotics Detectives along with EST, CRT and ASU units were sent to 2546 River Cove Trl to serve a murder warrant on Darryl “Antone” Davis. Davis is wanted in connection to the homicide at the Shell Quick Stop located at 3024 E State Blvd early yesterday morning. Davis was taken into custody without incident moments after police arrived at the apartment.

The arrest came after a nonstop investigation into the shooting death of a young male at that location. Great police work along with numerous tips, by the public, aided in piecing together information that lead to the arrest. We are grateful for the trust bestowed upon us by this community to make it safer. Together we will make that happen.”

UPDATE (September 3, 2020):

Fort Wayne police are asking for the public’s help in finding five men they believe are associated with a homicide at an East State Boulevard gas station early Wednesday morning.
The FWPD issued the following along with images from the scene moments before a fight that led to shots being fired:

“These 5 people are Persons of Interest in the homicide from early this morning on E State Blvd. We are asking people to call the detective bureau at 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers 436-STOP if they have any information on who these people are in the pictures. Thank you. We appreciate any information no matter how small you think it is.”


The Allen County Coroner identified the victim Wednesday afternoon.
The coroner’s office released the following:

The Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted reference a shooting investigation located in the 3100 block of East State Blvd. Ft. Wayne, In. at about 01:35 hours on September 2, 2020.
The shooting victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The decedent has been identified and notification has been made to the next of kin of Stephon T. Holland, Male Black 22 years of age, from Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
The autopsy has been completed and the Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound of the Chest and then Manner of Death is Homicide. Stephon T. Holland is the 34th Homicide in Allen County for 2020. This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say an altercation at a local gas station led to a shooting early Wednesday morning that took one man’s life.
Officers were called to the Quick Stop located at 3024 E State Blvd, close to Beacon Street in reference to a shooting just after 1:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male inside the business suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by medics.

FWPD officials say that this early into the investigation there is not a lot of information. Homicide and Crime Scene Detectives were called to the scene and continued investigating for hours. It appears that the shooting involved some sort of altercation between the victim and some other subjects in the entry of the business.
The suspects fled on foot in an eastbound direction after the shooting. Anyone with any information about this homicide is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department Detective Bureau at 260-427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-STOP.
