FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Allen County Commissioners say that for working diligently to meet the significant challenges brought about by COVID-19 and the positive and effective way they responded to the pandemic, the entire staff of the Allen County Health Department has been chosen as the County’s “Employee of the Year” for 2020.
Each member of the department was recognized Tuesday by the Board of Commissioners during a ceremony held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. They received individual certificates and the health department’s name was added to a perpetual plaque.
Allen County Commissioners released the following:
The Health Department has been the lead agency on behalf of the county in helping residents, businesses and the community manage the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic health emergency. Since early February 2020, when the pandemic first began, department staff has been working with federal, state and local governments, health care providers and County departments to issue stay-at-home health orders, lead testing, conduct thousands of track-and-trace efforts, implement an extensive media and public outreach campaign, and produce and disseminate safety messaging – all with the goal to ensure that everyone who lives, works and visits Allen County stays safe.
“Each division of the Department of Health adapted and adjusted to the multiple changes thrown at them by the pandemic, all while continuing to complete their specific duties without skipping a beat,” the commissioners said in a joint statement. “We appreciate these employees who gave up personal time with family and put off their normal workloads to jump in and assist with the pandemic response efforts.”
