It looks like the average price of gas will be $3.68 over Thanksgiving, which is nearly 30 cents higher than last year, and over 20 cents higher than the previous record of $3.44 set in 2012.
But that won’t stop many people from traveling this weekend. According to GasBuddy, 38% of Americans are planning to hit the road this Thanksgiving, which is up 20% from last year. So when are the busiest times to travel?
According to AAA, pretty much all day Wednesday will be bad . . . but you’ll be better off leaving before 8:00 A.M. or after 8:00 P.M. The worst time on Thursday is 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., and for the rest of the weekend . . . Friday through Sunday . . . AAA suggests avoiding the late afternoon and early evening.
23% of people say they’ll spend one to three hours in the car, compared to last year, when most indicated they’d travel less than an hour away.
And interestingly enough, FEWER people are talking about gas prices impacting their travel than in similar reports last year.
