Officials say that everyone made it out safely before the fire spread to damage an upstairs apartment.

Crews were able to quickly gain control and say that most of the damage was in the garage. The home suffered moderate fire damage and minor damage from smoke and water.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department released the following:

FWFD was dispatched on a residence fire. Upon Battalion Chief arrival saw light smoke coming from attached garage and roof of small one-story duplex.
