Fort Wayne police looking for man that held up ATM technician

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police looking for a man who robbed an ATM while a technician Saturday night. Officers were called to the Chase Bank ATM off East Petit around 9:30.

Preliminary information indicates a technician was performing routine maintenance on the ATM. The technician was approached by a suspect armed with a handgun demanding money. The suspect is described as a male, black, approximately 5’9” to 6’1” tall, with a thin build. He was wearing all dark clothing and his face was covered by a black mask. The suspect fled the scene on foot northbound through Southgate Plaza with an undisclosed amount of money. A police K-9 tracked northbound from the ATM to an empty parking spot within Southgate Plaza.

There were no customers using the ATM at the time of the robbery and the technician was not injured.
Investigators are requesting anyone that was in the area of the Chase Bank this evening and observed any suspicious activity to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1201 or the local FBI office 260-426-5331. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
