Family of four rescued from southwest Fort Wayne fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Fire Department officials say a family had to be rescued from a house fire early Thursday morning.

Fort Wayne Fire responded to a structure fire on the southwest side of Fort Wayne at 4:48 a.m.

The first arriving FWFD crews to the home at 3812 Chancery Place focused on searching for victims in the home.

Four people, one adult, and three children were found and removed and a fire in the living room was extinguished.

Several Fort Wayne and Allen County Police units assisted with providing care to victims on the scene. Four Three Rivers Ambulance Authority units also provided patient care and transport. FWFD officials say that “no first responder was injured at the incident and the cause of this fire is under investigation.”

The home suffered minor to moderate damage. Assistance at this incident was also provided by AEP, NIPSCO and Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
