FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A 26-year-old man is in police custody after a standoff in Fort Wayne early Sunday morning. Police were called to a report of an unwanted man in a home in the 3200 block of Dinnen Avenue and say he barricaded himself inside. Lantz Garrett was wanted on three active felony warrants and said he was not going to surrender. The 26-year-old was taken into custody just before 10:30 a.m.

At 6:02am on Sunday, April 20, 2025, the Fort Wayne Police Department received a reports of an unwanted adult male inside of a home in the 3200 block of Dinnen Ave. As officers arrived, the adult male retreated to the basement, barricaded himself, and told officers he had explosives and would shoot police. Officers learned his identity and that he had three active felony warrants.
Officers attempted to negotiate with the male to surrender, but the male refused to cooperate and continued to reinforce his barricade. Because of his threats of violence, the Emergency Services Team and Crisis Responses Team were requested to assist.
Once on scene, negotiators tried to make contact with the male by sending him a mobile phone, but he refused to communicate. Other officers continued loud hailing for him to exit peacefully, but he refused.
Around 10:20am, officers deployed chemical irritants into the home, which successfully motivated the male to surrender. He was taken into custody without further incident and will be taken to the Allen County Jail.
