FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that an arrest was made in a murder case from 2001. Tommy Harris Jr., 43, is now facing preliminary charges of felony murder and burglary. FWPD reported that he was taken into custody without incident in the 4400 block of Lillie Street on Wednesday.
On June 27, 2001, Larry Lovelace Jr. was killed on the 5300 block of McClellan Street. At the time of the murder, Harris would have been around 20 years old. FWPD homicide detectives, along with the Gang and Violent Crimes Unit, worked together to apprehend Harris, who is now being held at the Allen County Jail.
No details have been released regarding how Harris was linked to the crime.

On November 13, 2024, Tommy Harris Jr. 43yoa was taken into custody without incident in the 4400 block of Lillie St. Harris was arrested on a warrant for Felony Murder and Burglary in connection to the cold case homicide of Larry Lovelace Jr. that took place in the 5300 block of McClellan St on 06/27/2001. FWPD Homicide Detectives were assisted by the Gang and Violent Crimes Unit in the apprehension of Harris. Harris is currently being held at the Allen County Lockup on the charges of Felony Murder and Burglary.
