FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two people died after they were ejected from an SUV that went off southbound Interstate 69 just before 8 p.m. Saturday in Allen County. Three other people, including two juveniles, are hospitalized, with one juvenile in critical condition and the other two in serious condition.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Office has not said why the SUV went off the road, hitting a guardrail and rolling.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
On November 23, 2024, at approximately 7:58 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of I-69 southbound near the 320 mile marker, reference a crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers and medics located an SUV with damage and five individuals with injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicated the SUV was southbound on I-69 near the 320 mile marker when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. The SUV struck the guardrail and rolled. Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle and both pronounced deceased at the scene. One was a juvenile and the other is unknown at this time.
Three other occupants were transported to a local hospital; an adult in serious condition, a juvenile in serious condition and another juvenile in serious to critical condition.
This incident remains under investigation.
