The City says the primary goal of the showcase was to explore the feasibility of these new construction types while navigating zoning regulations, and building permit processes. The project aimed to stimulate in-fill housing in urban areas and share insights for future innovation by engaging builders, developers, policymakers, and the community.
“We’re working each day to provide individuals and families with unique options for housing. Being in position to meet the housing needs in our community is a top priority of my administration. As a city, we’re evaluating and implementing infill housing, addressing the housing shortage, and looking for how we can have affordable housing options for residents in neighborhoods throughout our entire community,” said Mayor Tucker. “We’re looking forward to positive outcomes as a result of the Innovative Housing Showcase. By working together, we can help ensure that Fort Wayne continues to be a fun, family friendly, affordable, and safe community.”
